Bereits knapp 14 Monate nach „Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns“ hat der Altmeister des Roots Rock & Americana John Hiatt am 28.09.2012 nachgelegt: „Mystic Pinball“ heißt das 21.(!) Studioalbum, wurde wie der Vorgänger von Kevin “Caveman” Shirley (Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa) produziert und mit seiner aktuellen Begleitband „The Combo“, mit Doug Lancio (E-Gitarre, Mandoline, Dobro), Kenneth Blevins (Drums and Percussion) und Patrick O’Hearn (Bass) perfekt eingespielt.
Wo „Hiatt“ drauf steht, ist auch „Hiatt“ drin – dem entsprechend bekommt man auch, was man erwartet – Konstanz gehört sicherlich zu einer so langen Karriere seit Anfang der 70er, wie sie John Hiatt (*20. August 1952 in Indianapolis) „gelebt“ hat, dazu. Spannend, dass es auf der neuen Scheibe wieder etwas bluesiger abgeht. Super fand ich z.B. "Give It Up" und "Blues Can’t Even Find Me" mit Dobro. Das läßt etwa die Zeiten von „The Goners“ mit Sonny Landreth, respektive „Little Village“ mit Ry Cooder aufleben... ist direkt auf dem iPhone gelandet. Gutes Feeling!!!
